DATA SCIENTIST

A project director and data scientist with 8 years of experience in predictive analytics, A|B testing, and data visualization. My major strengths include leadership skills, time and project management, capacity to work independently as well as in a team, and strong communication skills. Highly skilled in data analysis and evaluation, and hypothesis testing of diverse projects in education.

SKILLS & ACHIEVEMENTS

Project Management: Trained and oversaw the work of 20 graduate students and employees working on a large research project targeting the local community. Achieved project goals within budget and schedule.

Statistical Analysis and Machine Learning: Formulated research questions, tested hypotheses, and constructed conceptual and statistical models for analysis of large and complex databases of human behavior and individual difference and performance. Skilled in the following analyses and data types:

  • Supervised Models: A|B Testing and Non-linear Predictive Analytics, Hierarchical Linear Modeling, Structural Equation Modeling, Neural Network Models
  • Unsupervised Models: Cluster Analysis, Factor Analytics, Data Mining, and Anomaly/Outlier Detection
  • Data Sources: laboratory (collected and archival), corpus, log transformed, longitudinal, survey, structured and unstructured interviews

 CAREER SYNOPSIS

Adjunct Professor & Research Scientist (2011-present) | Georgia State University

  • Planned and taught classes of 30 students in subjects across human growth and development, and learning. Collaborated with faculty on quantitative research projects to examine human differences and performance from large and longitudinal databases
  • Methods: factor analysis, regression, A|B testing, hierarchical linear modeling, structural equation modeling

Senior Research Associate (2015-2016) | University of Houston Downtown

  • Extracted, managed, and manipulated data from internal databases to design and produce reports and presentations for internal and external constituents.
  • Informed policy, procedures and programs through data analysis and literature review
  • Collaborated with faculty, staff, and administration on assessing and evaluating interventions designed to enhance student success and retention.
  • Collaborate with Information Technology Department to develop and maintain a data dictionary and use database to track student participation in academic support services and student activities.

Pre-doctoral Fellow & Team Leader (2011-2014) | Georgia State University

  • Researched and developed production materials and the curriculum for a $2.5 million NIH-sponsored project to enhance language instruction for 700+ children aged 8-12 who were struggling to learn to read.
  • Performed data collection and analysis, coordinated scheduling, and managed a team of 5 graduate students.
  • Methods: mixed effects model, factor analysis

Pre-doctoral Fellow & Project Manager (2011-2014) | Georgia State University

  • Managed a project designed to assess the reading level of 600+ children aged 3-5, coordinating and training a team of 20 graduate students on assessments, data collection, analysis and report writing.
  • Designed research questions, tested hypotheses and constructed conceptual and statistical models for analysis of a large data set of human behavior and individual differences. Also analyzed data from structured and unstructured sources, including surveys, interviews, recordings, and standardized assessments.
  • Controlled the project budget and inventory and delivered project progress reports to stakeholders.
  • Methods: factor analysis, regression, A|B testing, hierarchical linear modeling, structural equation modeling

Graduate Research Assistant (2010-2011) | Georgia State University

  • Developed a visual learning curriculum and trained/supervised a team of 18 graduate students on a project to deliver appropriate education to 100+ children aged 3-12 who were deaf or hard of hearing.

Education Program Manager (2007-2010) | Association for Forests, Development & Conservation, Lebanon

  • Designed and developed a curriculum for a non-profit organization to increase awareness and educate children, parents and teachers across 500 schools on environmental and social issues. Built a library of educational resources including videos and a website.
  • Devised assessment and research strategies based on evaluations of program effectiveness; managed the program team and all aspects of the project including inventory/budget control and report writing.
  • Recruited and evaluated educators, staff and volunteers; delivered training workshops to groups of 30+.
  • Methods: A|B testing, mixed methods, regression

Trainer of Trainers (2007-2010) | GLOBE – NASA, Near East & Africa Region

  • Recruited, trained and evaluated 100+ teachers and educators per year delivering a NASA environmental awareness program. Coordinated educational activities for 400+ children aged 8-18. Led regional project from grant proposal to implementation and report writing.
