My name is Souraya Mansour Mitri and I am a project director and data scientist currently residing in Portland Oregon. I have worked in various sectors including academia, non-profit, and corporate.
Most recently, my work really revolved around data. I got to interpret some small, big, specific, and vague research questions posed (or sometimes hinted at) by the University President, Provost, Vice Provost, faculty deans, and directors. I then went on scavenger hunts for the right databases that may hold the necessary ingredients to answer such questions.
To me data analysis (or as people love to call it, analytics) feels like an adventure because the data is stored using different softwares that aren’t always compatible (they do not talk to each other as I like to say). Once I locate them, I now have to do some major clean up and find ways to link student-level, classroom-level, and institutional-level data in an effort to answer the aforementioned questions. It is a good thing I like scavenging and adventures. Did I mention that some data is sometimes located on paper?
I have a PhD in Educational Psychology and Special Education with a focus on Research Methods from Georgia State University. I was also a Language and Literacy Fellow at the Department of Educational Psychology at Georgia State University throughout my doctoral work. This website has been developed as a means to provide the full picture of my academic activities. In this website, you can read a brief biography , list of publications, and a short CV in PDF format.
